Phillip C. Walford
, President and CEO, Director
Mr. Walford has been the President and CEO of Marathon Gold since December 3, 2009 and was the former CEO and Director of Marathon PGM. Mr. Walford is a professional geologist registered in Ontario. He held senior management positions at Pamour Pocupine Mines,Lac Minerals and Geomaque Explorations Ltd., and Hudson Bay Exploration and Development.
Mr. Walford has extensive international experience in gold and base metal deposits. As a result of his rich global experience, Mr. Walford places high value and importance on lessoning risk and has modelled Marathon Gold on this premise.
George D. Faught
, Chairman and Director of the Company
Mr. Faught is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of senior management experience. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Company and is also the Vice Chairman of Aberdeen International Inc. Mr. Faught has served as the CFO and Director for several publicly listed companies in the natural resource, financial services and pharmaceutical industries.
Robert 'Page' Chilcott
, Director of the Company
Mr. Chilcott spent twenty-seven years with C.M. Oliver & Co. Ltd., a Vancouver based brokerage company, holding various positions including President and Board Member. Mr. Chilcott served as a Member of the Board of Governors for the Vancouver Stock Exchange for twelve years and was Chairman of the Board of Governors for two years. Mr. Chilcott also served as a Member of the Board of Governors for the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.
Joseph G. Spiteri
, Director of the Company
As a former Senior Manager and Officer of several mining companies (Placer Dome, Northgate Explorations, Lac Minerals and Campbell Resources), Mr. Spiteri brings more than 35 years of extensive experience in evaluations, development and operations to the Marathon Board. During his career, Joe has helped build several deposits from exploration stage projects through development and into producing mines. He is a member of The Canadian Institute of Mining and The Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario. Mr. Spiteri earned his Honours Bachelor's of Science degree in earth science from the University of Toronto in 1976.
David Poynton
, Director of the Company
Mr. Poynton is the President of Daycon Minerals Corporation since March 2012. He is an independent consultant and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and has offered legal, business and financing consulting services, as well as acted as a corporate Director to the mining industry. Mr. Poynton was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Iberian Minerals Corp. and Cadillac Ventures Inc.
Julian Kemp
, Director of the Company
Mr. Kemp was appointed to the board in Novmber 2012. Mr. Kemp has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry, mostly serving in senior financial and administrative management roles. His experience has been focused on restructuring and transforming exploration and development companies into producers. Julian has guided various junior mining companies with precious metals, base metals and coal operations in North American and internationally as well as mining engineering and contracting companies. He is presently the Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Fortune Minerals Limited, a position he held from 2004 to 2013. Julian has also served as a Director for a number of public companies and is currently a Director and Audit Committee Chairman of Claim Post Resources Inc. (TSX-V:CPS) and was formerly a Director and Audit Committee Chairman of Goldgroup Mining Inc. (formerly Sierra Minerals Inc.) (TSX:GGA). Mr. Kemp is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition, Mr. Kemp obtained the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation from The Directors College (a joint venture of McMaster University and The Conference Board of Canada) in 2012.
